Lectures:
Lectures will
be held in a two hour slot every week. It is expected that
you will have done the readings prior to attending the class.
The content of these lectures will cover basic areas of insect physiology
and will hopefully provide a base for the seminars, which will deal
with specific cases and examples.
Seminars:
Each student
will be responsible for presenting one seminar. The seminar
topics will complement and continue the lectures given earlier in
the week. The material given in the seminars will enhance
our understanding of the various aspects of insect physiology.
Each seminar will be 20 minutes in length and will be followed by
questions and discussion. The papers for the seminars have
been compiled into a custom published book which can be bought at
the Bookstore. Students will present the material in the paper
that they have chosen. This will entail looking up extra references
which will give them the ability to properly introduce, understand
and explain the work in the paper. It is expected that every
student in the course will have read the papers prior to attending
class. Students will also be expected to hand out an outline
(maximum two pages) which will be used by the other students to
revise for the tests.
