Awards Open To Students Of Italian
ADMISSION SCHOLARSHIPS
The Delia Social and Cultural Centre Admission Scholarship
To be awarded to an outstanding high school student based on their academic
achievement in a senior level Italian course and on the recommendation
of the Italian Department.
Payment of the award is conditional upon full-time registration at UTM
the following September in one of the following courses, ITA 200Y, 221Y,
228Y, 235Y, 230Y, 243Y, or higher level courses..
The L. Marchionne Picchione Admission Scholarship in Italian
To be awarded to an outstanding high school student based on their academic
achievement in a senior level Italian course and on the recommendation
of the Italian Department.
Payment of the award is conditional upon full-time registration at UTM
the following September in one of the following courses, ITA 200Y, 221Y,
228Y, 235Y, 230Y, 243Y or higher level courses.
REGULAR SCHOLARSHIPS
The Alex and Angelina Prokich Scholarship in Italian
To be awarded on the recommendation of the Italian Department at UTM
to a Year I full-time student who obtained a minimum "A" grade in ITA 100Y.
Full-time enrolment in Year II with registration in a least one full course
equivalent in Italian is required. Recipients would be excluded from
receiving another Italian scholarship or award in the same academic year.
The ItalTheatre Scholarship
To be awarded to an outstanding student who has made a significant
contribution to the Italian Play in a non-acting capacity upon completion
of one of the following courses ITA 312Y / 313Y / 314Y / 315Y / 490Y /
495Y, or any other course associated with the Italian Play.
The Joseph Guidoni Memorial Scholarship in Italian Literature
On the recommendation of the Italian Department to be awarded to a
student with high academic standing who is registered in courses in Italian
literature.
The Manuela Bastone Scholarship in Italian
On the recommendation of the Italian Department to be awarded to a
student with high academic standing who is registered in ITA 350Y / 371Y
/ 450Y.
The Metro Toronto Italo-Canadian Scholarship
To be awarded to the outstanding student in Italian in Year II who
is nominated by the Faculty in Italian and who has an otherwise satisfactory
standing.
The Mississauga Canadian Italian Association Award
To be awarded to a University of Toronto at Mississauga student registered
in a Major or Specialist Programme in Italian on the basis of financial
need. Academic merit will also be considered. Application required, or
recipients must have been identified as having financial need based on
the University’s criteria.
The Mississauga Canadian Italian Benevolent Association / Forum
Italia Scholarship
To be awarded to an outstanding student upon completion of one full
course equivalent in Italian Cinema and Culture, or in one of the following
courses in Language Teaching and Learning: Italian Program: JFI 225Y/JFI388Y/
JFI488H/ ITA374H/ ITA375H/ ITA396H/ITA437H.
Preference will be given to students registered in an Italian Specialist
or Major Recipients would be excluded from receiving another Italian scholarship
or award in the same year.
The Penelope Frohman Marchese Scholarship
To be awarded to the outstanding full-time student who in Year III
obtains the highest average in at least two full courses (or their equivalent)
in Italian.
The Pugliese-Bancheri Scholarship
Awarded on the recommendation of the Italian department at Erindale
to an outstanding student upon completion of one full course equivalent
from the following Medieval and Renaissance courses: ITA 317H/ 318H / 321Y
/ 370Y / 434H. The recipient must be registered in either a Major
or Specialist program in Italian. Recipients would be excluded from receiving
another Italian scholarship or award in the same year.
Roberto Paul Didoné Memorial Scholarship in Italian
On the recommendation of the Italian Department to be awarded to the
student with an outstanding contribution to the annual Italian play. Student
should be in otherwise good standing.
The Sharp Electronics of Canada Limited Scholarship
To be awarded on the recommendation of the Italian Department at Erindale
to an outstanding student upon completion of ITA 200Y. The recipient must
be registered in at least a Minor in Italian as well as having obtained
a minimum 'A' grade in ITA 200Y. Recipients would be excluded from receiving
another Italian scholarship or award in the same year.
The "Tre Stelle" Scholarship
On the recommendation of the Italian Department to be awarded to the
full-time student with the highest overall standing and "A" standing in
Italian Studies at UTM in Year 1. The winner will be required to enrol
full-time in year II of the specialist or major program in Italian at UTM.
