Welcome to the Biology 356 web page!

The BIO356 lecture notes and labs were put together largely by Dr. Michel Laurin while he taught this course, but have been modified more recently by Dr. Robert Reisz. Any errors and omissions are the result of Dr. Reisz's own particular prejudices and style.

This course focuses on the evolution of the vertebrates as evidenced by the fossil record. The origin and adaptive radiation of major groups, including amphibians and reptiles is emphasized. Practical sessions include the study of fossils, and techniques of collection and preparation. Six of the laboratory sessions are held at the Royal Ontario Museum.
