Required:
- Senior graduate student with extensive experience teaching writing
- Relevant experience in teaching academic skills such as reading, critical thinking and communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and some experience working one-on-one with students
- Effective oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Excellent research skills and ability to analyze a wide variety of documents and situations
- Evidence of effective teaching skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Must be flexible and able to work as part of a team
- Must also be able to take initiative, identify and complete independent work projects
- Must be a member of CUPE Local 3902, Unit 1
Preferred:
- Upper-year doctoral candidate preferably ABD
- Experience in conducting tutorials and one-on-one consultations
- Two years experience as a University of Toronto TA assessing writing, critical reading, critical thinking, argumentation and other communication skills
- Some training in second-language instruction at the university level would be an asset
- The Teaching Assistant will work under the direct supervision of Tyler Evans-Tokaryk, Writing Specialist an Coordinator of Writing Programs at the RGASC at UTM.
- The primary responsibility of the Teaching Assistant will be to design, teach, and evaluate student performance in the communications tutorial for MGT220.
