RESP verification process can now be done online
Many students use funds from a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) to help pay tuition.
In order to transfer the funds from your RESP account, most RESP providers send students and their families a Verification of Enrolment/Registration form to verify that you will indeed be a student in the upcoming year.
Part of that form requires a statement from the university which confirms that you are enrolled here. In order to make it easier for you to get that statement from U of T Mississauga, we have introduced a process that will allow you to do much of that online, instead of having to make multiple visits to the Office of the Registrar.
Step 1:
- Go to https://registrar.utm.utoronto.ca/student/resp/ and log in with your UTORID.
- Read the instructions carefully.
- Click on the box to indicate that you have read and understood the instructions.
- Click "Continue." A new page will pop up.
- Fill in the information as requested and select a delivery option.
- Submit the payment online as requested using your credit card. When the payment has been accepted, your request will be on record at the Office of the Registrar. (If needed, you may also pay in person at the Office of the Registrar with a debit card.)
Step 2:
Send your financial institution's RESP Verification of Enrolment/Registration form to the Office of the Registrar. You can do so in one of three ways:
- Fax it to 905-569-4301, or
- Mail it to: Office of the Registrar, Room 2122, Davis Building, U of T Mississauga, 3359 Mississauga Rd. N., Mississauga, ON, Canada, L5L 1C6, or
- Deposit it in one of the two drop boxes at the Office of the Registrar (you do not need to wait in line to hand it in).
Please ensure that the student and/or subscriber sections are completed in full, as required.
The RESP forms will be processed in batches and returned to the RESP companies on behalf of the students (students will receive email notification when completed).
If you prefer to pick up the completed RESP form at the Office of the Registrar, you will need to bring your TCard.
PLEASE NOTE: Some financial institutions will not provide you with an RESP form and may only require a copy of your tuition invoice (available in mid-July) or a confirmation of enrolment letter. If that is the case, you can print your invoice from your ROSI account. Or, to obtain a confirmation of enrolment letter, you can do that online by going here: https://registrar.utm.utoronto.ca/student/letter/
If you have any questions, please contact the Office of the Registrar at 905-828-5399.
