AWARD DEPARTMENT YEAR FINANCIAL NEED CONDITIONS OF AWARD AWARD SELECTION
The Harold Sonny Ladoo Book Prize for Creative Writing English & Drama Any No To be awarded to a U of T Mississauga student, either full-time or part-time, in memory of Harold Sonny Ladoo who published his first novel in 1972 whilst an undergraduate at Erindale College and whose promising writing career was tragically cut short by his early death in 1973. Competitors may submit one or more of the following: i) a long poem OR a group of short poems; ii) a short story OR a group of short stories; iii) a novel OR scheme of a novel with approximately 15,000 words of the novel itself; iv)a play. NO previously published composition will be accepted.

Environment Canada Scholarship for Academic Excellence Geography Year 2 (9.0 - 14.0 credits) No To be awarded to a U of T Mississauga student enrolled in a major or specialist in an Environment program at the end of second year. This student must demonstrate academic excellence and exceptional leadership in environment related courses and community work.

The United Way of Peel Region Award General Any Yes Awarded to a student on the basis of financial need. Community involvement will also be considered. Recipients of the award must be Peel residents.

Deadline: TBA

The Rotary Club of Mississauga West "Service Above Self" Rotary Bursary General Year 2 and above Yes Awarded to second year or above U of T Mississauga students on the basis of financial need. Academic merit and volunteer community service in Mississauga will be taken into consideration.

Deadline:  TBA - March 2014

UTM Student Recognition Award of Achievement General Year 2 and above No The Student Recognition of Achievement is awarded based on a student's academic achievement as well as campus and/or community involvement.

Deadline: TBA - December 2013

U of T Mississauga Residence Community Scholarships Residence Any No Awarded to full-time residence students on the basis of involvement in community and residence activities. Academic merit will also be considered. In-course awards are conditional upon returning to full-time studies and living in residence at U of T Mississauga.

Deadline: TBA - January 2014

U of T Mississauga Alumni Association Scholarship General Year 4 or have completed at least 14.0 credits No This award is available to full-time and part-time students who have made academic and/or social contributions to UTM which have enhanced the UTM student experience. The student must have a CGPA of 2.7 or higher to be considered.

Some scholarships recognize academic excellence and students are nominated by an academic department. Other scholarships are determined by extracurricular and/or volunteer activities, along with academic standing and/or financial need.
