1. How do I find out if I am eligible for graduation?
Students who have applied for graduation are sent a letter informing them about the degree they have requested, along with information about the name that will appear on their diploma. Students should then visit the Office of Convocation website where they can find valuable information about the convocation ceremonies and how to obtain tickets.

2. When and how can I apply for graduation?
Students must monitor their own progress to degree completion. To request graduation, view the dates printed in the Registration Guide on which you can make your request for graduation and visit ROSI to make your request. ROSI will communicate to you the type of degree with which you are eligible. If ROSI does not present the type of degree that you would like to obtain, you will have to formally make your request with the Office of the Registrar. Subsequently, if ROSI indicates a degree request that is incorrect, you will have to formally make the request to change your degree type with the Office of the Registrar.

3. When is convocation?
University of Toronto holds two convocation ceremonies each year — one in June and one in November. To view the dates of upcoming ceremonies please visit www.convocation.utoronto.ca/dates.htm.

4. I would like to attend the Hong Kong convocation ceremony — where can I find information on how to attend?
In order to be eligible for the Hong Kong convocation, you must have already obtained a degree from the University of Toronto. The Hong Kong convocation is normally held every two years at the end of the year; however this date is subject to change.

5. How do I get my degree?
Your diploma will be given to you at your convocation ceremony. If you are not planning on attending your ceremony, you will be instructed to inform the Office of Convocation of your intent and subsequently you have the option of either picking up your diploma or request to have it mailed; there is a fee for the mailing of your degree — please refer to the Office of Convocation for rates and information.

Please note: Degrees are only held for a period of two years from the date of your convocation. If you do not pick-up your diploma within this time frame, it will be destroyed.

6. How can I arrange to have my graduation photo taken?
Graduation photos are arranged through the UTMSU. Please visit their website for details.

7. I graduated with a three-year degree and now I want to upgrade to an Honours degree, how can I do this?
You may only upgrade a previously conferred Bachelor of Arts (BA) to an Honours Bachelor of Arts (HBA) OR a previously conferred Bachelor of Science (BSc) to an HBSc degree. You must make your request on ROSI between the dates listed in the Registration Guide. If ROSI does not provide you with the option to request graduation, you must contact the Office of the Registrar to formally make your request.

Students completing an "Honours degree upgrade" will NOT be able to attend a second convocation ceremony.

You will receive a letter indicating when you can pick up (or request to have mailed) your upgraded degree. You MUST return your original 3-year degree in order to obtain your upgrade. This process also applies if you are requesting your upgrade to be sent by mail. Please contact the Office of Convocation if you are no longer in possession of your original three--year diploma.
