Area of Research:
Developmental and Child Clinical Psychology, Children’s Mental Health, Social-Emotional Development, Evidence-Based Interventions in School and Out-of-School Time Settings
Laboratory for Social-emotional Development and Intervention
Profile:
My research examines how children and adolescents positively adapt and emotionally mature during their development. In a first line of research, I study the development of social and moral emotions such as sympathy, guilt, and respect. A second line of research investigates how these emotions help or hinder thriving and resilience amidst social and psychological risks of everyday life, such as social conflict and aggression. A third line of research transforms this basic developmental research into intervention programs, especially in school settings. Taken together, the objective of these three lines of work is to advance social-emotional development and mental health and to help children and youth succeed in their school and out-of-school-time settings.
