International Applicants

The minimum requirement for admission is the completion of a Canadian four year honours Bachelor's Degree program (or equivalent) in any area of biological sciences. Graduates of recognized academic institutions outside Canada should hold an appropriate bachelor's degree or its equivalent as assessed by the University of Toronto. Use the International Degree Equivalencies tool to see which international credentials are required for masters and doctoral admissions at U of T. You can find this tool at http://www.gradschool.utoronto.ca/Admissions/IDET.htm
GRE Scores: International students also need to submit GRE subject test scores (e.g. biology or chemistry). Applicants should select "University of Toronto Mississauga", institution code 7203. For program code, please select "Other Biological Sciences", program code 0299".
English Proficiency: If your primary language is not English, and you graduated from a non-Canadian university where the language of instruction and examination was not English, then you must demonstrate your facility in English using one of the following methods:
1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
2. Michigan English language Assessment Battery (MELAB)
3. International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
4. The Certificate of Proficiency in English (COPE)
5. U of T School of Continuing Studies Academic Preparation course
You may not be required to complete an English-language proficiency test if you have completed a degree program at a university where the language of instruction and examination has largely been in English. This is at the discretion of the graduate unit to which you have applied. If you are such an international applicant, please contact MBiotech for further information. An official statement from your institution will be required if an exemption is granted, confirming the use of English as the language of instruction and examination.
