MBiotech students shortlisted in international essay competition
A team of three Master of Biotechnology students were were recently short-listed in an international essay competition sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline.
The GSK Rare Diseases competition invited views, insights and business strategies on the subject "Rare Diseases: a sustainable model for the pharmaceutical industry." Submissions were assessed by a review committee comprising experts from industry, the patient community and the financial sector.
Matt Wrobel, Xin Hang and Ashton Jagdeo, all first-year students in the MBiotech Program, competed against various individuals including pharmaceutical consultants, MBA students, PhDs, and other highly-educated and experienced individuals. Their essay, "Orphan Drugs: a sustainable model" was shortlisted in the top 10, winning a 1000 euro prize and is now published on GSK's Rare Disease website.
