Filipe, Helen

As the Administrative Director of Corporate and Student Development, Helen C. Filipe is responsible for all aspects of the MBiotech program relating to corporate relationships, employer development, student placements, and student development.

Helen has over 15 years experience in adult education, career counseling, corporate consulting, teaching, training and coaching.  She has a solid understanding and network of contacts within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry.  Her business background includes working with the federal government; post secondary institutions, as well as private corporations.  Helen’s strengths lie in her professionalism, enthusiasm and experience with diverse teams.  She has provided strategic planning for management teams, consulting to non-profit organizations, customized training sessions on team development as well as individual training, coaching and advising.  Prior to joining the University of Toronto Mississauga campus she had a varied career path that included working at the University of Toronto St. George campus, St. Stephens Community House, Estrategias Consulting, Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, University of Guelph-Humber and as an Instructor and Subject Matter Expert for the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS).

Helen has advanced training with various assessment tools including True Colors, Personality Dimensions and is a Certified BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i) Facilitator. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Ethics Society and Law from University of Toronto, postgraduate training in Instructional Design from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, a Master of Arts in Adult Education, and has completed an Executive MBA Program at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
