Vice-principal honoured by Life Sciences Ontario

Professor Ulli Krull, Vice-Principal, Special Initiatives and Vice-Principal, Research, at U of T Mississauga, will receive a Community Services Award from Life Sciences Ontario at their gala on Wednesday, Feb. 27.  The award recognizes “an individual who has helped build the life sciences community and strengthen its local and global reputation, where he or she has gone above and beyond the call of duty.”

U of T Alumni Association fetes exceptional individuals at UTM

U of T Mississauga community members representing faculty, staff and students are among those recognized with this year’s U of T Alumni Association Awards of Excellence.

Oscar win for U of T alumnus

Composer and University of Toronto alumnus Mychael Danna picked up the Academy Award Feb. 24 for Best Original Score for the film Life of Pi.

"I share this wondrous award with our visionary captain, Ang Lee,” said Danna in his acceptance speech. “[Life of Pi] transcends culture and race and religion."

Danna also thanked his parents “and, most of all, my wife and our two beautiful boys who remind me every day why stories like this one need to be told.”

University of Toronto joins Harvard, MIT online learning platform

The University of Toronto is joining edX, a US-based platform for massive open online courses that is accessible to students of all ages and means around the world.

“The University of Toronto is extremely pleased to join edX,” said Cheryl Misak, U of T vice-president and provost. “This is the latest move in our ongoing efforts to provide an opportunity for people worldwide to have access to outstanding educational materials and to enhance the learning experiences of our own students.”
