This year’s CIBC Run for the Cure at the University of Toronto Mississauga shattered records, setting a new fundraising high to support the Canadian Cancer Society.

More than 2,200 people--including Team UTM’s 123 members--came to campus Oct. 1 to run, walk or cheer from the sidelines, decked out in team shirts and pink accessories. While donations are still being tallied, the final total is more than $26,000, shattering this year’s fundraising goal of $15,000, winning the Top Online Fundraiser and the Post-Secondary Team Challenge Awards in our region.

The run/walk was the finale in a series of events that included the Pink Luncheon, Dodge for the Cure and a garage sale, organized by the UTM Run Committee: Michelle Atkinson; Debby Keown; Ryan Cerrudo; Tara Fader; Carla DeMarco; Helen Filipe; and Afrodite Cruz.
