Student Exchange Program

The University of Toronto has more than 160 partner university institutions in 60 different countries around the world. Each year, partner universities agree to accept a limited number of U of T students into their programs.  In exchange, U of T accepts students from our partner universities. Exchange programs provide second or third year students with excellent opportunities to experience new cultures and learn new languages while earning credits towards their U of T degrees.

As an outbound Exchange Student you can:

  • Remain a U of T student, and pay U of T tuition fees
  • Go on exchange for one semester or for a full academic year
  • Participate in a Summer research program
  • Choose your own accommodations or live on-campus residence
  • Apply for financial aid if you are eligible for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
  • Earn transfer credits towards your U of T degree (for most courses) -

Minimum Academic Requirements:

  • Must be in good standing and have completed at least 4.0 full credits
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.25 is required for consideration (some partners require a higher GPA – please consult the list of Eligibility Criteria)
  • Some exchange programs have special language requirements
