Engaging in activities outside of the classroom while at university can help to enhance your student experience, and has been proven to lead to higher satisfaction with your overall educational experience and success as a student. With this in mind, the Residence Life Staff aims to provide opportunities for you and other students in residence to interact with faculty, staff and other students of the university throughout the year. Residence Life Staff events and programs can take a variety of forms, from leadership development workshops for students, jam sessions with faculty, or a book club discussion with staff, allowing you to enhance your educational experience at UTM.

Throughout your year at UTM, the Residence Life Staff will hold various events and programs for you and your community. The first goal of these events and programs is to foster greater connections between you and other students living in residence. At the beginning of the year, the Residence Life Staff will create many opportunities for you to meet and interact with the people living within your specific residence area. This helps to form the bonds and friendships with other students who you will see regularly over your time in residence. Some examples of these events include: TV nights, socials, or heading off-campus to go bowling. Throughout the year, the Residence Life Staff will continue to help create opportunities for meeting and interacting with other residence students but they will also design programs that help meet the needs of your specific community. Some examples of these programs include: how to cook healthy meals, career workshops, and time management.
