Residence Life Staff (RLS)
Undoubtedly, the upcoming year will be one filled with challenge and great personal achievement. The Residence Life Staff (RLS) is here to assist you in that journey. The RLS is made up of ...
Assistant Director, Residence Life
The ADRL is responsible for supervising the entire Residence Life Program. He/she ensures that programs are in keeping with university values and commitments, as well as relevant theory and research on student development. The ADRL assists in the implementation of specialized programs and activities in support of student success and leadership for students living on campus at UTM. He/she is committed to working with the Residence Life staff to help with academic success and personal development of students living in residence.
Community Development Coordinators
The Community Development Coordinators (CDC) are professional staff who manage the team of Residence Dons and ensure that your residence is a positive and safe environment. The CDCs meet with the Dons regularly to discuss your community’s needs and up-coming events. Depending upon whether you are in an upper year community or a first year community, you will be assigned a specific CDC. They are also available to meet with you if you have any issues or concerns that you feel uncomfortable speaking with your Don about. Make sure to introduce yourself to your CDC, as you will see them periodically throughout your residence and at your community events!
Coordinator of Residential Transition Programs (CRTP)
The Coordinator of Residential Transition Programs (CRTP) is a professional staff member who manages the rezONE program and the rezPAL (Peer Academic Leaders) team. Through rezONE, the CRTP ensures first year students are provided the academic support necessary to successfully transition to university. The CRTP is also an active member in the residence community so do not be afraid to say hi at community events!
Residence Dons

At Student Housing & Residence Life at UTM we have approximately 40 dons living in residence.
When you first arrive to residence, one of the first people you will meet is your Residence Don. These enthusiastic upper-year students will support you throughout the year with any concerns, questions, or issues that you may have. They are an excellent resource and can point you in the right direction, as well as relate their own personal university experiences. Your specific Don lives within your residence community and will help ensure that you have a positive, enjoyable residence experience. They will coordinate various programs and events that will enhance your university experience and personal growth. During your weekly community meetings, your Don will provide you with important residence and campus-wide information, as well as conduct fun activities that will help bring your community together! You are encouraged to get to know your Don personally. They are fantastic student leaders who are there for YOU!
rezPALs

At Student Housing & Residence Life we have approximately 20 rezPALs living in first year communities.
As a first year student, you are paired up with a rezONE Peer Academic Leader (rezPAL). A rezPAL is a successful upper year student who maintains a minimum 3.0 CGPA and studies the same or a similar academic discipline to your own. They live in your Academic Living Community (maybe even next door) and are dedicated to providing academic support specific to you.
Your rezPAL will hold weekly rezONE Seminars in the fall semester, 10 course specific Facilitated Study Sessions, a Capstone Project in the winter semester and will be a regular source of information for you regarding your program of study. On no other campus will you find an upper year student living next door, dedicated to supporting your first year academic transition.
