"Quebec and the Making of Canada" Roundtable Discussion at UTM

As part of its Seminar Series on the History of Canadian Confederation, the Department of Historical Studies is proud to announce "Quebec and the Making of Canada." This roundtable discussion will feature three preeminent social and cultural historians of Quebec which include:

  • Magda Fahrni (Université du Québec à Montréal)
  • Nicolas Kenny (Simon Fraser University)
  • Jarrett Rudy (McGill University)

The event will take place in IB 335 on Monday, October 31st from 3:00-5:00 p.m. All are welcome!

The Unimportance of Death

Organ transplantation has long relied upon the “dead donor rule,” which requires that the donor be dead before organs can be removed. Brain death and cardiac death are increasingly recognized as inadequate criteria for determining death, leading to proposals to allow removal of organs before death occurs. This talk will consider the ethical and policy implications of re-thinking the “dead donor rule.”
