Dr. Mitchell McKee is a graduate of McGill University (BA 1977), the University of Toronto (MA 1978) and York University (Ph.D. 1983). Her doctoral dissertation, entitled "Voluntary Youth Organizations in Toronto, 1880-1930", was completed under the supervision of Professor Ramsay Cook. Since then, she has taught extensively at York University and the University of Toronto. Dr. Mitchell McKee has offered a variety of courses in Canadian social and political history, the histories of Quebec and Ontario and women's history. In recent years, she has taught a fourth year seminar at York which surveys the history of Toronto from earliest times to the present. Her current research interest lies in the history of popular culture, especially leisure, recreation and sport with a focus on childhood and adolescence in the nineteenth century.
