Beverly Bain has taught in Women and Gender Studies for the past 8 years. She teaches courses in postcolonial studies, queer and sexuality studies, race, transnationalism, homonationalism and sexual assault.

Her research interest investigates institutional and textual discourses as regulatory in the suppression of anti-violence activists activities in state practices.  She is currently conducting research in the area of race, transnationalism and homonationalism

Recipient of the Laurentian University – Sociology Department Teachers Award for Excellence (2012)

Recipient of the Steinert and Ferreiro Award for activism in the LGBTQ and queer communities of color movement (2005)
