Grassland/meadow that was once sparsely forested as an orchard.
This is the closest approximation to an agricultural setting on campus, but does appear to have some sparse native grassland species such as big bluestem (Andropogon gerardii) grasses.
No large overstory canopy to block light penetration to the ground.
Transpiration rates are slower than in the forest (at least during the growing season)
