Project Work Requests
The following text outlines the UTM approval procedure for various projects depending on the size (total project cost), type of project, and source of funding.
Project Work Requests
All projects that are less than $50,000, do not require central funding, and do not involve change of space use. After filling out the project work request form, please deliver to Facilities Management and Planning, attention to S. Elias, North Building room 159.
SPMC Projects
Space Planning and Management Committee (SPMC) covers a wide variety of projects, most of which fall into the following four categories:
- Requests for new space.
- Projects with cost over $5,000 that require central funding.
- Projects with estimated cost over $50,000 that do not require central funding.
- Projects that affect the aesthetics of public spaces.
All project requests in this category need to follow the SPMC submission procedure and the SPMC schedule.
Accommodations and Facilities Directorate (AFD) Projects
All projects that exceed $500,000 but are less than $2 million require AFD approval.
All project requests in this category need to follow the SPMC submission procedure. Once a project is approved by SPMC, the SPMC secretary will assist with submission of the required documentation to the AFD committee.
Capital Projects
All projects that exceed $2 million have to follow rigorous U of T planning, reporting and approval process. Information is available in this policy.
