Student Application

2013-14 Application Form

The 2013 Deadline to Return Applications is February 15, 2013

Please review the Course Description and Course Format and Assessment prior to applying. Also, please review prior Presentation Day Programs (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012) to see what students have been doing and where they have been placed. This course is a great opportunity to apply your academic skills and background in a practical setting, and gain 1.0 academic credit at the same time. To be eligible, you need the following to apply:

1.     You will have 15.0 full course equivalents by the Fall of 2013.

2.     You will be graduating in June or November of 2014.

3.     Your GPA for your MOST RECENT 10.0 credits is 3.0 or more.

4.     You will have completed a statistics course before the start of the internship course.

5.      You are a Biology Specialist or Biology Major (includes Neurobiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, etc.).

6.      You are not also committed to taking BIO481 or any advanced research project course such as CHM489, FSC481, BIO399, ANT481, etc.  IF you are still UNDECIDED, you are welcome to apply to BIO400 (but you will not be allowed to take both courses).

7.      You will have 1 weekday free per week from Sept. – April (can be a different day each term, and can be two half days, but that is discouraged and not always ok with supervisors – ask us).  Summer placements are very rare but can occur.  NEW!!  There are opportunities to do your internship ABROAD with extensive funding support – please indicate if you are interested in going to the National University of Singapore for a research internship.

Note that not all excellent candidates who apply to take this course can be accepted due to space limitations.  Marks are not the final basis for decisions.

In the last part of February you will be notified about whether or not you have qualified for the interview phase of the application process.  Interviews will be scheduled for early March.
