Domestic Applicants
Application Materials
All applicants must provide at least:
- two letters of recommendation (see below)
- official copies of all post-secondary transcripts
- a statement of intent - a one-page free form letter which should include field(s) of research interest, reasons for pursuing graduate studies in chemistry, career and academic goals and if known, indicate specific faculty members whose research interests you. This section may be uploaded to the School of Graduate Studies on-line application system.
- a detailed curriculum vitae (i.e. resumé)
- Applicants who will complete their degree at University of Toronto are required to submit ROSI printouts of their transcripts
- any other information that may assist our Graduate Studies Committee in assessing your qualifications, such as reprints, preprints, or reports.
Referees are professors or scientists familiar with your academic and/or research background. They must be able to provide assessment on your suitability for graduate studies and research.
- Letters of reference are provided electronically directly to the Chemistry Department using the School of Graduate Studies on-line system. The University will contact your referees using the information you have provided in your application.
- It is recommended that you confirm your referees' availability prior to submitting their contact details. A reminder to inform your referee to check the junk mail folder or set "utoronto.ca" or "sgs.utoronto.ca" as a safe sender.
- Your referees are required to complete the reference form and may in addition write a free-form letter.
- Letters of reference may be also forwarded directly to the Chemistry Graduate Office. The letter must be placed in a sealed envelope with the referee's signature across the back flap.
- Please upload your statement of intent and CV to the School of Graduate Studies on-line application system.
- There is no application fee for domestic students. After completing the SGS on-line application, select and print "Offline" payment form. Please submit the form to the Chemistry Graduate Office. Payment will be processed by our office upon receipt of the said form.

IMPORTANT: Please inform the Chemistry Graduate Office at gradasst@chem.utoronto.ca once your application is complete (ie. all documents have been received including payment).
