Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS)

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program is designed to encourage excellence in graduate studies at the master's and doctoral levels.

An OGS is awarded for one academic year, which may consist of two or three consecutive terms.  One-term awards are not granted.  The value of the OGS is $5000 per term.  Thus, you may receive $10,000 for two consecutive terms or $15,000 for three consecutive terms.

Eligibility:  You are eligible to apply for an OGS if you are planning to pursue, or are continuing in, full-time studies in an approved graduate program leading to a master's or doctoral degree next year at an Ontario University.  You must also be a Canadian citizen, protected person, or permanent resident, or have been admitted to Canada with a student authorization/study permit.  Please note that you are not eligible to apply if you are a refugee claimant and do not have a student authorization/study permit.

Academic Eligibility:  Applicants entering the first or second year of graduate studies at the time of application must have an overall average of at least A- (3.7 at UofT) on the last 20 one-term/semester courses (ie. year 2 and 3 if you are in 4th year).

Note:  You cannot hold a scholarship from NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR or OGSST at the time as an OGS.

A total of 3,000 scholarships will be awarded annually.

For the 2011-2012 academic year, approximately 3,000 scholarships will be awarded.  Of these, 90 scholarships will be awarded to students who have been admitted to Canada as visitors with a study permit, referred to in the application as Temporary Resident Visa Student Class.

Applications are due Monday 18, 2010 in SB 4060
