Career Fairs are held yearly and offer you a chance to learn more about your potential career path, including: volunteer & on-campus opportunities, graduate & professional schools, networking with professionals in various organizations and summer job opportunities. Don't miss out!
Networking Nights/Breakfasts
These events are designed to help students (typically in their upper years) connect with industry professionals in fields related to their program (the career fields of these events varies year to year). You'll be able to get the inside scoop from professionals working in the field, representing a wide range of firms in different sectors. You'll also have the opportunity to practice your networking skills, which will be a valuable experience as you move forward along your career path.
Ace Your Career Case Conference
This is an exciting 2-day conference where participants (2nd- and 3rd-year Management & Commerce students) conduct a SWOT analysis on themselves, learn how to prepare an effective business introduction and also practice these new skills while getting the inside scoop on careers from industry professionals in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources and other business roles.
The final Ace Your Career Case Conference was held in January 2009.
Management Conference
This event is open to 3rd- and 4th-year Commerce & Management students interested in all industries, including Accounting, Finance, Marketing, etc. At this conference students will hear from guest speakers and learn about:
- what accounting, finance and marketing firms look for in a resume and cover letter
- how to avoid common errors in the application process
- how to network with employers more effectively
- optional "image critiques"
The final Management Conference was held in Fall 2010.
Alumni & Career Panels
Networking panels generally feature 4-5 guest speakers sharing their insights & experiences on everything from their current position to where their career path took them upon graduation. Alumni Panels typically have speakers from different U of T Mississauga programs and career fields (i.e. HR, Marketing, Finance, etc.); Career Panels tend to focus on specific areas of interest and/or academic programs (i.e. Sociology & Criminology).
