Visiting Students

The University of Toronto Mississauga will consider applications from visiting students who are working towards an undergraduate degree and are in good standing at an accredited North American university.  Visiting students will need to have permission from their home university to transfer U of T Mississauga credit(s) to an undergraduate degree program at their home institution.  If your university has an exchange agreement with the University of Toronto, a visiting student application may not be necessary – please check with your university.

Visiting students at U of T Mississauga may only enrol in courses on the U of T Mississauga campus.  If you have never been a University of Toronto student and wish to take your courses on another campus, the information about the Visiting Student Program at the Faculty of Arts and Science (St. George – downtown Toronto) and U of T Scarborough.

If you wish to pursue a University of Toronto degree, contact the Office of Admissions at 905-828-5400. Approval as a non-degree visiting student is not the equivalent of university admission, nor does it imply future acceptance as either a degree student, or a non-degree student at U of T.

All registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis for qualified students. Acceptance of your application does not guarantee you a spot in your preferred course(s).

Returning U of T Mississauga visiting students must re-apply and pay the application fee for each session in which they wish to enrol and must have earned at least 60% in previously taken University of Toronto courses in order to re-enrol.

Visiting Student Application Process

If you are a student from an accredited North American university and would like to take courses at U of T Mississauga for transfer credit at your home university, complete the following steps:

Step 1: Choose Courses

Choose University of Toronto Mississauga courses of interest from the Course Timetable after consulting the Academic Calendar for course descriptions and pre- and co-requisite requirements.  Consultation with the department undergraduate advisor to show proof of equivalent pre- or co-requisite is essential so that you will not be removed from the course during their pre- and co-requisite check.

Step 2: Request a Letter of Permission

Request a "Letter of Permission" (LOP) from your home university registrar’s office granting you permission to take a specific course(s) at U of T Mississauga. This letter confirms your eligibility to take courses and, in many cases, also assures that your U of T Mississauga course(s) will fulfill the program and/or degree requirements of your home university.  This letter must be on official university letterhead, signed by a university official, and the original letter submitted with your application form.

Step 3: Complete the Visiting Student Application form

Complete the Visiting Student Application form and submit it along with your LOP, an unofficial copy of your home university transcript, and the $60 non-refundable application fee payable by MasterCard or Visa (or payment in person by debit) to:

More details on when and how to pay your fess can be found in the Registration Guide. If you do not enrol and pay fees by the deadline, you will be removed from all your courses and your registration cancelled due to non-payment of fees.
