Be a Volunteer Notetaker
The Notetaking program ensures that students with disabilities are able to access lecture material, which they may otherwise not have access to. Students who require the services of a notetaker may have difficulties taking notes due to a physical disability, vision or hearing loss, mental health, chronic health disabilities, a learning disability or ADHD.
Main Responsibilities:Provide a copy of your notes to the AccessAbility Resource Centre within 24 hours of each lecture.Attend your classes regularly and take notes.
Benefits of Volunteering: Contribute to the UTM Community. Receive a certificate of recognition. Build your resume. Students who have volunteered 40+ hours between Summer and Winter/Spring are eligible for a certificate of recognition signed by the Principal of UTM. Past volunteers often say that being a Notetaker motivates them to attend class, be more attentive, participate in class discussions and take comprehensive notes, which works to benefit both the Note Taker and the student(s) requiring the notes.
To become a Volunteer Note Taker:
- Register Online using your UTM Login (UTORID)
- Upload a sample of your lecture notes for each course. You may also utilize the high speed scanner/copier located at the AccessAbility Resource Centre.
- You will be contacted by email if your notes are required for a specific course.
