Creative, performing arts showcased at festival (March 26, 2008)
It’s creative, quirky, with great visuals and lots of performance. The New Mind Space Pillow Fight, in other words, is a great fit for the 7th annual UTM Art Festival. The pillow fight, to be held this evening along with other events, promises the possibility of physical activity, artistic expression and lots of fun – all part of U of T Mississauga’s celebration of the creative and performing arts. Every year, students in residence share their talents in the areas of vocal and instrumental music, dance, theatre and visual and digital arts. The three-day celebration culminates in an annual showcase where student performers and contributors have an opportunity to win more than $3,000 in awards recognizing their talents. “This is an important event in the life of our campus community,” says Chris McGrath, assistant dean, student affairs. “Each year, we are amazed by the range of talent on campus – from hilarious stand-up comedians to incredible sculptors. We can be really proud of the ways in which our students express themselves through the creative and performing arts.” All events are free except for the final showcase.
